Take Good Care of Your Toilet
Let’s face it, our toilets are the most underappreciated household fixture in our homes. They play an extremely important role in our day-to-day lives and without this modern convenience, our homes would be…well… less convenient. Taking care of your toilet is surprisingly simple, here are 5 tips to follow.
Teach your household to follow some basic rules of toilet maintenance. For example, wipes, disposable diapers, paper towels, and feminine products should not be flushed down the toilet because it could clog up the drains. To prevent a toilet clog, place a handy covered bin in the bathroom so you can dispose of items that cannot be flushed.
2. Don’t try
Try not to flush leftover food down the toilet either. Very large and hard particles can get stuck. The grease and oils from the food will harden and cause the grain to clog. It’s better to just compost what you can or just trash the rest.
Any old-fashioned toilet with a low-flow variety needs to be replaced. You need a toilet that’s going to save you even more H2O!
Utilize a water-less composting toilet to be even more environmentally friendly.
Lastly, install a toilet lid that locks to prevent small children from throwing things such as stuffed animals from being flushed down the drain. Not only will it keep your little ones safe, but this handy device will prevent your mischievous toddlers from conducting their own kind of science experiments.
